Planting the seeds for a greener, more sustainable future.
Environmental Management System (EMS)
We have extended the campus footprint. Sixty Two, is one of the Isle of Man’s first privately held office buildings to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ sustainability rating.
Our aim is to focus on managing our new location’s life cycle by supporting the ongoing health and wellbeing of our workforce by establishing a more sustainable environment which encourages staff to create a greener future.

Many of PlayItForward’s partners have made a conscious effort to lower the waste produced at
their events, including staff functions, volunteering days and industry trade shows.
For example, Apricot reused more than 75% of its exhibition stand from ICE 2019,
as well as recycling and donating materials to help protect our planet, while
benefiting those in need.
Our partners have also supported a wide range of Isle of Man green community
initiatives, including financing a ‘Recycle Collect’ comfort fund, which gives
individuals on lower incomes access to recycling collection services.
PlayItForward volunteers were also involved in the development of a micro forest
on Island and have supported numerous Manx Wildlife Trust initiatives,
including a major seagrass research scheme and several projects supporting
the conservation of puffins, hedgehogs, and sharks.
Other green community initiatives include financing a local Recycle Collect comfort
fund, which gives individuals on lower incomes access to recycling collection services.
Other causes have included the Isle of Man Foodbank ‘bag for life’ initiative,
in which PlayItForward volunteers donated eco-friendly reusable bags to
the charity’s users to reduce the number of single-use plastic bags used
at the service.
Our partners also regularly recycle IT equipment and redundant furniture,
with proceeds donated to PlayItForward charities including Victim Support,
Live at Home, and St Christopher’s. Our partner, Apricot, also upcycles furniture
where possible – recently restoring and donating their on-campus photobooth to
local charity, Isle of Man Children’s Centre.
eBikes - charging the future
PlayItForward invested in a range of electric bikes – perfect for staff members looking to run an errand or simply wanting a breath of fresh air and a ride around the block! Each eBike can reach between 30 and 140 power-assisted miles, comes with locks and saddlebags, and have front and rear lights for the dark days of winter.
Our Sustainability Pledge
In 2020, Apricot created and launched a
Sustainability Pledge, demonstrating our commitment to
protecting the environment, preventing pollution,
and continually improving our environmental performance
as an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods.
In support of this commitment, we identified the significant
environmental impact of activities, products, and services within
the context of the business, and the determined controls and
environmental aims to reduce these impacts to a reasonable level.
The pledge and its environmental aims are assessed
at regular review points, and we encourage employees,
suppliers, and other stakeholders to do the same.
The pledge supports our EMS and the green initiatives that
fall under it and helped shape our progress towards achieving
Biosphere
We’re lucky to call our home a UNESCO Biosphere – with the Isle of Man being the only entire nation in the world to hold this designation. As a proud UNESCO Biosphere Partner, both Apricot and its people have pledged to protect our surrounding natural resources and in recent years have supported a number of local conservation projects. This includes the development of a micro forest in the Isle of Man and supporting numerous Manx Wildlife Trust initiatives including a major seagrass research scheme and several projects supporting the conservation of puffins, hedgehogs, and sharks.
