EMS is a commitment to our natural environment whereby we adopt controls to minimise any negative impact on the environment.

PlayItForward supports its partners' EMS initiatives by providing financial backing and logistical assistance for a range of environmental projects. In January 2024, it launched a one-year pilot programme with the Isle of Man kerbside recycling service, 'Recycle Collect', offering free recycling collections to partners and their employees. This initiative aims to encourage eco-friendly habits at home that can be replicated in the workplace.

PlayItForward's partner Apricot has adopted a holistic EMS which includes a range of controls and eco-friendly activities, many supported by PlayItForward. With a campus footprint including Evergreen and Sixty Two, one of the Isle of Man’s first privately held office buildings to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ sustainability rating, Apricot focuses on managing the life cycles of its locations and supporting the health and wellbeing of its workforce by establishing a more sustainable environment which encourages staff to create a greener future.

PlayItForward’s support helps drive awareness and engagement in these initiatives, ensuring a greener future for all partners involved.

To date, Apricot has:
  • Removed all glassware from the office, providing staff with bamboo and other alternatives
  • Replaced disposable lunch and drink containers with sustainable alternatives, eliminating single-use plastics
  • Monitored energy consumption with Energy Eye, tracking electricity and C02 levels in real-time
  • Ensured all cleaning products and stationery are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified and responsibly sourced
  • Installed motion-activated LED lights and IT software with sensors to reduce energy consumption during inactivity
  • Established a comprehensive recycling and waste segregation system - 'binfrastructure'
  • Promoted the use of reusable bamboo mugs and other ecological initiatives
  • Transitioned to a paperless environment and set up facilities for recycling confidential waste
  • Encouraged participation in Cycle to Work and Car Sharing schemes
  • Provided composting facilities at the staff coffee shop, with coffee grounds used by employees and local farmers
  • Gifted each staff member a biophilic desk plant to foster environmental responsibility.
